thai food in kuwait

I found a small Thai restaurant here in Kuwait City just a short walk from the hotel. It is located on the second floor of a mall that is the main hub for travel agencies in Kuwait. There is also a small Asian foods grocery store across from the restaurant that carries some food items like chili paste (rooster brand) and the instant noodles (Mama) that I like.

The dishes/soups cost on average 1.500KD or $5.25US and a typical meal will run you around $12US. That includes soup (Tom Yum Seafood), an entree, rice, and hot tea. With prices that low I’ll probably eat there several times a week for dinner. The overall quality is good for being in Kuwait but the decor is sparse. The seating capacity is around for 30 people and you feel like you are eating at someone’s house.

On my next visit I’ll take some photos of the dishes and will post them to the site.

Update: I found another Thai restaurant in the same area. The food quality is so so. The dishes were somewhat bland and not very exciting to eat. But this place does actually makes my favorite papaya salad (Tom Sum). It is not as tasty as my mom’s place but good enough for being in Kuwait. I need to see about getting the other Thai place on track with adding Tom Sum to their menu.
