Sarah and I were in Chicago about a month ago visiting my folks. While there we stop at Petsmart in Schaumburg to buy some stuff for Sammy. That is were we “ran” into Kaile. The store had the folks from the Midwest Lab Rescue there and were trying to have Kaile adopted. We’ve been talking about getting another dog to keep Sammy company and help him grow out of the “only puppy” syndrome for a few months now. Getting a puppy was out of the question because of the time investment. So when we saw Kaile it sort of fell together. Before we knew it Kaile was headed back to her new home in Wisconsin. The story on her is that she was a stray and was at a kill shelter in Missouri when the Lab Rescue people took her in. Who would possibly put a cute little dog like that out on the streets?

It has been a month now since she has been adopted by us and she and Sammy are getting along just fine. She has a ton of energy and just runs circles around Sammy. Our vet has checked her over and thinks that she hasn’t been spayed yet so our he will perform the procedure in the near future.

She rides in a car like a champ. Sammy on the other hand works himself in to a frenzy before a car ride. It is nice that at least one dog does not freak out. I’ll be posting more photos of Kaile soon.

Sammy has been attending doggy day care for several weeks now. I think that it is money well spent. First of, he is not cooped up at home while Sarah is at work. Secondly, he gets to socialize with other dogs. Lastly, the trainers there help us with his “seperation anxiety”. All reports indicate that his anxieties are slowly being corrected. This place is pretty awesome they have 2 webcams in the indoor play areas where you can watch (via the internet) your dog during the day. Below is an image I downloaded from one of the webcams. As you can see the play areas are very large. The dogs are grouped based on their social behavior and size. This place also has an outdoor play area and seperate rooms when the dogs need their rest.  If you have a place like this in your area you should check them out.

Sammy is now weighing in at 70lbs. Our little guy looks more like a big dog now but still behaves like a puppy though.
